Oaxaca continues to struggle through the transition from its tribal-warrior roots into a culture of voluntary obedience to the law. While the violence of 2006 has passed, frequent protests hinder education and commerce. The Legal Ethics presentation was originally scheduled to take place in the Law School of Oaxaca but had to be moved to the Hall of Human Rights because of a strike at the University. The strikers also blocked all traffic on the major highway through Oaxaca.

Bruce A. Campbell is an avid photographer who travels widely to capture landscape with his camera. The World Monuments Fund included two of Mr. Campbell's photos of Mt. McKinley in a four-minute video that pays tribute to David Rockefeller, Jr. — the 2009 recipient of the Hadrian Award.
